We employ a variety of techniques at our Aliso Viejo chiropractic office.

Flexion – Distraction Technique

Flexion – Distraction Table is specifically designed for treatment of the disc herniation/bulge of the lower back (ex: lumbar spine disc herniation or lumbar spine disc bulge). This treatment has shown to be effective to decrease the sciatica and lower back pain that radiates down to the lower extremities.

Supporting research study

A study of 49 consecutive patients with disc herniation that was confirmed on MRI with pain and disability for an average of 60.5 weeks were treated 2-3 times a week initially for 3 weeks with flexion distraction manipulation. Flexion distraction manipulation, neurodynamic techniques, joint manipulation, myofascial technic and exercise were utilized.

Clinical outcome at end of treatment and 14.5 months later showed clinically meaningful improvement of pain and disability in 79% and 70% of patients respectfully at end of treatment 79% and 73% respectfully at 14.5 months follow-up.

Myofascial Release Technique (MRT) & Instrumented Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Soft tissue mobilization techniques such as MRT & IASTM are mainly utilized to decrease muscle spasms and resolve trigger points along the muscles for short-term but effective relief. Research shows that these interventions produced significant short-term gains in the joint’s ranges of motion for up to 24 hours. We use these treatments in tandem with chiropractic adjustment, physiotherapeutic modalities and rehabilitative treatments to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders, such as neck pain, mid-back pain, lower back pain, and upper/lower extremities pain.
